about

I wrote this piece for Christie Gray - an amazing person who is not only incredibly generous but who is also hyper aware of and is conscious of many hardships in our Toronto community... Not only that, but with her role as the executive director of Sistema Toronto, she helps kids and also musicians (teachers) strive to be good humans and to contribute positivity to society. The title, taken from the French saying "dans la lune" illustrates when you stare in front of you without really looking at anything in particular, sometimes resulting from feeling shocked. It can also happen when you are relaxed and start to day-dream.
In the Moon was written right at the beginning of the pandemic in March, when things felt most uncertain. The melody and pizz harmony came to me quite quickly and I think I found a lot of comfort in it... and hope you do too! This piece features two short improvised cadenzas.

Violin played is "Cistello" built by Itzel Avila
